Winter 2019 Open Meeting

The 2019 Winter Open meeting is this Wednesday, February 20, in the Ford Alumni Center Giustina Ball Room, from 2:00pm – 3:30pm.  The meeting is a great opportunity to catch up with your current OA council members as we discuss our progress on strategic goals and initiatives for this year.

President Michael Schill and Learning and Development Manager Jill O’Dea will also be presenting on topics pertaining to Officers of Administration and the current climate at the University of Oregon.  Additionally, we will be making presenting awards to this year’s OA Star Winners!

Light refreshments will be available, we hope to see you there.

Annual Strategic Leadership Conference

The Officers of Administration Council and Human Resources are offering an opportunity for OAs to enhance their leadership and management skills, to identify solutions for issues impacting higher education, and to share their expertise with their colleagues.

In response to your feedback in the Workplace Climate Survey, sessions will be geared towards managing change.

Provost Banavar will provide opening remarks, followed by our keynote presenter, Matt Coleman, DEd, Executive Director of inflexion and UO Alumni.  He will be speaking on leading and building trust in times of change.

We are also very excited to offer an additional keynote to kick off the second half of the day with Dean of Students for the Law School, Jennifer Espinola and Associate Director for Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, Chris Esparza. They will be presenting on leadership strategies.

March OA Council meeting explores issue of implicit bias

Erik Girvan, a UO associate law professor, will talk about implicit bias at the next Officers of Administration Council meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13. The meeting will be in the Redwood Auditorium in the Erb Memorial Union and streamed to UO Portland in Room 150 of the White Stag Block.

Girvan’s research investigates how stereotypes, attitudes and other biases might affect decisions in the legal system and related contexts, such as school discipline decisions. He empirically tests practical ways to reduce or eliminate implicit biases by working with a diverse variety of legal and other professionals.

Open Meeting to discuss University Accreditation and Workplace Climate Survey: February 13, 2018

The next Officers of Administration Council open meeting on Tuesday, February 13 will present information on university accreditation and share the first public look at the results of the workplace climate survey conducted fall term.

Ron Bramhall, Associate Vice Provost of Academic Excellence, and Chuck Triplett, Assistant Vice President for University Initiatives and Collaborations, will present information on university accreditation and how it may impact you.

The OA Council will also share initial results from the workplace climate survey that captured the thoughts and concerns of more than 500 respondents in October-November 2017.

The meeting will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Ford Alumni Center 202 and will be livestreamed to UO Portland at the White Stag Block Room 152. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP for this event.

Open Meeting with Provost Banavar, Melanie Muenzer, and Jessie Minton: November 8, 2017

The Officers of Administration Council welcomes Provost Jayanth Banavar, Associate Vice President for Academic Administration and Provost’s Chief of Staff Melanie Muenzer, and Chief Information Officer Jessie Minton, to its monthly open meeting on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Ford Alumni Center’s Giustina Ballroom.

UO Portland Officers of Administration can join the meeting live from White Stag Building Room 346.

Provost Banavar will provide us with an overview of onboarding training for department heads, how he can better help OAs, and how OAs can help him to achieve his goals.  There will be a brief question-and-answer session with Melanie Muenzer, and Jessie Minton will update us on Transform IT.

Annual Meeting with President Michael Schill and VPFA Jamie Moffitt: October 10, 2017

The Officers of Administration Council has invited University of Oregon President Michael Schill, Vice President for Finance and Administration Jamie Moffitt, and a panel of administrative leaders to present at the Officers of Administration Council Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 10, from 2:30pm–4:30pm in the Ford Alumni Center’s Giustina Ballroom.

We will also confer this year’s OA Star awards to six individuals from across campus who exemplify exceptional service to the institution.

All Officers of Administration are invited to hear from key leaders regarding the ways in which OAs further the mission, vision, and values of the UO, and the major issues currently facing our institution.
